The Exiled
The Exiled is an elite freelance outfit established after the dissolution of the Blackwater Rangers. It's organization primarily consists of former members of the Rangers but also consists of and accepts individuals of various backgrounds. The organization is not legally binded to any faction or party and operates freely as an independent group with ethical requirements. Members of the party are given the freedom to carry their own weapons and wear their own clothing. Members are also given the freedom organize their own bands & parties for their own purposes as well as given the freedom to operate independently & cooperatively on various jobs and contracts but are required to remain loyal to the Exiled regardless of circumstance and help those who need assistance. Many members are experts in wilderness hunting and surviving in various conditions and have their own specialties.
The Exiled ultimately has no place to call home, and thus the living conditions of the Exiled on the frontier are spartan and often uncomfortable. The survivors of this harsh school of life are tough and uncompromising in their survival. They are superb in war: deadly shots and dirty fighters.
The Exiled was formed as an freelance outfit by Radzikowski after realizing the need to unify a band of like-minded individuals to ensure safety and peace amongst the former members. Many of the existing members had a long history with one another previously and joined the party for unification purposes. The name of the newly established party was given after the disestablishment of the Blackwater Rangers, as the organization itself is no longer allowed to reform legally, nor can members of the party reenlist into a government-oriented organization as a group. Members, however, have been granted permission to enlist into government positions individually.
The dissolution of the Blackwater Rangers were actually driven by the Pinkerton Agency and both factions had a history of killing one another prior to the dissolution. The Exiled's establishment was conceived after the Blackwater Rangers were disbanded to due public relation concerns. The Blackwater Rangers was framed of corruption and illegal activities by the Pinkerton Agency after exposing corruption within the Agency. After exoneration, the Blackwater Rangers were disbanded due to concerns after the issue was made aware to the public. The Rangers had revealed themselves in conflict with the Pinkerton Agency, and the public's awareness had become so soiled that citizens could not separate them from good or bad. When it was also demonstrated that the Rangers were more costly than a regular regiment of infantry, the fate of the Blackwater Rangers was sealed. The Congress decided to eventually replace them it with a more cheaper & efficient unit but has not determined a set date; plans include reinstating the commanding officer of the Blackwater Rangers, Colonel Mateuszek Radzikowski.
At the time of the dissolution of the Blackwater Rangers, the United States Government lacked proper capabilities in frontier warfare due to downsizing of the army after the American-Indian War & the Frontier Expedition. The dissolution led to demands for military escorts of the annual trading caravans across the frontier. Two infantry & two cavalry companies from Fort Wallace were ordered to protect the caravan. This expedition demonstrated the inferiority of the Army's new downsize against mounted Natives as compared to the effects the Blackwater Rangers had previously. At the end of April, Senator Eden Casey of West Elizabeth put forward a new bill to eventually authorize & to reorganize a new mounted ranger unit of volunteers for frontier defense but to operate at a much less cost. The outbreak of the previous wars meant that mounted rangers were necessary to maintain the peace but could not reorganize until public concerns were diminished. Thus instead, the United States Army Cavalry was tasked to maintain peace on the frontier until the the decision to organize a volunteer ranger company instead of a regular cavalry regiment is recognized and emanated from the prevalent attitudes of the public. It was during this time that the United States Army was seen as a stronghold of aristocratic, native-murdering thieves in contrast with the virtuous frontiersmen of the Rangers but was not enough to effect a change.
