A lot of the personnel in this organization have aspirations and prospects of enlisting in their respective service when they come of age. Many of our current personnel have a great respect for our history, and the history of their respective country, and have gone through and passed strenuous and rigorous training processes and selections to earn their place within this fraternity. We hold any and all applicants to a high-standard. On and off the battlefield, we are expected to carry out the duties and needs of our nation. Through selfless service and the respects and sovereignty of our great Nation and her interests, we carry out the orders of our Commanding Officers.
WHAT IT MEANS TO BE A RANGER
Rangers are warriors of an ancient order. Sworn to defend the weak, masters of the rifle. Their origins belonging to decades of warfighting; still they fight for what is right. Driven by duty, devoted to the defense of American Constitution but very few earn the title of a Ranger.
Trained to be proud, loyal, and brilliant diplomatic warriors, Rangers are expected to embody the highest values of Honor, Courage and Commitment. Many set out to achieve this, few do.

"I was that which others did not want to be.
I went where others feared to go, and did what others failed to do.
I asked nothing from those who gave nothing and reluctantly accepted the thought of eternal loneliness...should I fail.
I have seen the face of terror. Felt the stinging cold
of fear: and enjoyed the sweet taste of a moment's love.
I have cried, pained and hoped...but most of all.
I have lived times others would say were best forgotten.
At least someday I will be able to say that I was proud of what I was:
"A Ranger".

What makes a good member?
The technical aspects are simple – anyone can enlist, after all. If it were that easy to be a member, however, the Rangers would never have amounted to anything. The real meat of it comes in our expectations from our members. In keeping with our views of “Quality over quantity”, we are happy to sort through a dozen or more applicants to find a single quality person. We are pretty selective in who we bring onboard, and the quality of our playerbase and gameplay is a testament to this.
When it comes to reviewing applications, as well as observing the conduct of our probationary “pre-FNG” (aka ‘pFNG’) members, there are many things that we key in on. Some of the most important of those values are as follow:
• Friendly, respectful, and mature.
• Good sense of humor.
• Eager to learn and grow as a player.
• Teamwork-oriented mindset.
• Honest and accountable for their actions.
• Motivated and dedicated to making the group and our experiences the best they can be
• In it for the “long haul” – flavor-of-the-week players need not apply.
You’ll note that “skill” does not appear on that list – skill can be taught, after all. Personal skill has almost no relevance to your acceptance in the Rangers, so don’t worry if you’re not a crack shot or haven’t played at our level of teamwork before. Who you are as a person is of far more importance to us – we look for good people with good attitudes who can add real value to our community. Attitude and personality are traits that we have little chance of molding online, and we simply do not have time to deal with people who exhibit bad behavior or sportsmanship from the outset. Skill can be taught; attitude, for the most part, is a personality trait that cannot be altered by us.

Other Notes
In addition to that, the Rangers is an active-participation group that has activity expectations in the form of PlayStation attendance, forum contribution, etc. We play Red Dead Online primarily during our sessions and we also spend a lot of time interacting within the community in other historic-related games throughout the week, as well as simply ‘shooting the breeze’ with each other. Those who are interested in a more casual experience will be better served by another group – while we also cater to non-mililtary and roleplayer, the Rangers is oriented around gamers who are interested in becoming part of a tightly-knit, mature simulation community that is about more than just having a good time.
"Selfless-service and conspicuous gallantry are the demands that each servicemen must promise their nation. The willingness to serve and the willingness to sacrifice."
A handful of our personnel have prospects and wishes to join their respective service when they come of age or qualify. They may not choose to enlist into the military, but this organization offers the platform that they wish for or require to be introduced to that lifestyle and integrate with the mindset before they choose to make the leap.

Principles:
Our group principles are the defining facets of what makes our group as solid as it is. Some highlights of these principles follow.
• Community is the key. There are many places you can go to play and have fun. However, if you’re looking for something higher to tie it all together, that’s where our emphasis on our community development and interaction comes into play.
• Teamwork, Maturity, and Integrity combined with a Quality-over-Quantity mindset. We hold our members to high standards of conduct, and the group experience benefits immensely in turn.
• Active community participation & interaction – The more you put into it, the more you get back. We aren't in this to accumulate a roster of players who never actually play – if you join us, expect to see an active community that is regularly culled to remove any deadweight that might accumulate.
• Esprit-de-corps brought on by a rich history of camaraderie, evolution, and achievement. We are proud of where we came from and what we have accomplished, and this esprit-de-corps adds a great depth of character to the group itself.
• Well-defined tactics, techniques, and procedures, with a group-level comprehension and proficiency of them. Our goal is to maintain a high level of serious gameplay. You’ll have our guides as reference, which you are encouraged to learn as you enlist, and over time you’ll see it all be put into good use in our sessions, with your own proficiency and understanding increasing naturally, through enjoyable and intense gameplay.
• Motivated leaders leading dedicated members. We strive for a high degree of competency in our player-base insofar as leadership goes, as well as pride ourselves on how well our non-leading players will follow orders and conduct themselves in any given mission. Opportunities for leadership are plentiful, sometimes offered at the start of a mission in the form of unit commanders, squad leaders, and special group leaders, as well as in-mission resulting from casualties (and believe me, we are not invincible – you will definitely get to step up to a leadership billet at some point from casualties) and finally, promotions. You will find that a team full of dedicated members will follow you without hesitation into even the most absurdly “virtually dangerous” situations, as we’re all in it for a good time, and a glorious virtual death can be a hell of a lot of fun!
• “No Bullshit” mentality. Bring a foul attitude into the Rangers or otherwise behave in an undesirable way and you can expect to see yourself shown the door. The team trumps the individual, and toxic attitudes are simply not tolerated.
If you’re a good person, and you’re looking for a quality group where words like camaraderie, teamwork, and esprit-de-corps have a sincere and deeply rooted meaning, the Rangers should be right up your alley.

Bear in mind that the quality of the application will be your first impression by the Rangers itself, so if you are serious and would like a shot at joining us, you’re best off taking some time and writing honest responses.
Due to an incredible number of people applying, do not expect a response for at least one month.
If you do not receive a followup response, feel free to apply again after six months – we get a ridiculous number of applications and sometimes they get overlooked.
Due to the volume of applicants we receive, we are unable to reply to anyone other than those selected. We also cannot give updates on when we board people due to the nature of our current onboarding process, except to say that we generally bring in 30-100 people over the course of a given year, spread out through two or three batches.

Oath of the Rangers
(Graduation Oath)
"Hear my words and bear witness to my vow. My brothers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death. I shall harm no man, conquer no lands, leave behind no children. I shall wear no immoral turpitude and win no glory. I shall live and die at my post. I shall be a guardian, or die trying. I am the reaper in the darkness. I am the watcher on the mountain. I am the shield that guards the innocent. I am Never Unprepared. Nothing shall ever be too difficult. No sacrifice shall ever be too great. Duty to the people first & foremost.
I pledge my life and honor to the Commonwealth of West Elizabeth's Mounted Rangers, for this day and all the days to come. I swear this Oath and will protect it with my life."
