Black Wolf Company
Frontiersmen are trained in wilderness hunting and taught to survive in harsh conditions. They are experts in their craft.
Named after the animals they hunt during training, they are largely recruited from among hunters and farmers living in the mountains, these men are crack shots. Their hunting and tracking experience allows them to hide and kill perfectly. Recruited from woodsmen, hunters and poachers, these men are used to moving across broken ground and staying unobserved by their prey. Men who are hunters are rarely expected to be sent into battle. It is their lot to act as hunters and traders. In such as they may be called to battle, Hunters are rather skillful in combat, with good marksmanship skills; they can certainly hold their own against other forces, and give their enemy a nasty surprise. Nothing causes fear in men during battle like seeing your comrades slaughtered by a seemingly unseen or untouchable enemy. These troops are adept at hiding in cover as the foe approaches and they then use their superior marksmanship to bring down their targets. The Hunters are also used for scouting and raiding missions far beyond the skills of ordinary men. These fierce and independent men spend their lives killing. Mountains breed men who are unforgiving to their enemies, suspicious of strangers and wary around their friends. Life is hard in the mountains, and it is easier to take something than build, grow or make it. Banditry, feuds, revenge and murder are a way of life for many, and the survivors of this harsh school of life must be tough and uncompromising in their hating. All this means that they superb in war: deadly shots and dirty fighters. Hunters are not expected to fight in open battle in the normal way of things, but to pick off officers and leaders among the enemy ranks. Anyone who tries to fight against the Hunters will find a hard life. |

At times the Knights can act as Scouts using the Horse to flank enemy positions to either report back movement or eliminate a target with the use of their Long Rifle. The Knights can do bloody work and are rightly feared by enemy infantry, and other cavalry forces are foolish not to treat them with a degree of respect. They are killers.
The Knights are each armed with a carbine and a man-killing butcher’s blade of a sword when used from horseback in close combat. Based on their combat experience, they are an elite-trained cavalry force and can fight like the Devil. These troops are ideal for countering enemies such as skirmishers and artillery. The Knights have fast horses and can quickly reach enemies out of range of friendly units. Upon reaching their target, they can unleash a devastating cavalry charge. Dismounted, they can also use their carbines to fire upon the enemy and swords in close quarters. It is the task of the Knights to break the enemy by shock and impact. Trained in the arts of stealth and deception. Loyal beyond reproach, the Legion holds the darker secrets of dealing death in myriad ways, from throwing deadly knives to using a poisoned blade.
Their names are whispered in terror, they prowl and hunt in the silence of the dark, they are the shadows. As masters of deception and death, they do not follow the strict honor code. Honor has its uses, but a wise general would rather win the battle, than die in glorious defeat. Even though some would call them dishonorable, their necessity is needed during wars. They are silent weapons. Whereas Infantry bathe in the fires of war, these assassins promise a quick and painful death in the dark. When wars end, it is the silent blade that keeps the peace. But when wars rage, a Legionnaire's work is never done. Quick, lethal, they can win a fight before the enemy even knows they're there. Dancers of death with a variety of weapons for dancing partners. Selected from the desperate, the humble, or the devoted. Sworn to secrecy by unbreakable oaths; what they know could destroy legends... or create them. But you will feel the difference they make and the trail they leave behind. The Legion are masters of subterfuge, assassination and the hidden knife in the dark. They are experts and responsible for developing a school of murder and sabotage. They are virtually undetectable in battle, capable of carrying out deadly surprise attacks. The Legion has mastered the art of invisibility, making them highly effective assassins who possess terrifying supernatural powers. In fact, their skills are actually the product of a lifetime of intensive training, cunning and the clever use of misdirection. The ability to move about largely unseen on the battlefield means they appear from nowhere, launch an assault on an enemy general and then vanish before they are caught.
